Today, the Elite Leadership Club members from Sigang Junior High School participated in their second training workshop at Master Wang's Woodcarving Studio in Sigang District. They rode their bicycles to the studio and were escorted by Shu-min and Tony Coolidge and two other volunteers from the local community.

When they arrived, they were greeted by Mr. Wang and his new assistant. This time, the woodworking master and his assistant provided each team of students with a small rectangular piece of wood, and learned how to smoothen and polish their pieces of wood, using different grades of sandpaper.

Today, the Leadership Club members from Sigang Junior High School participated in their second activity of the semester. They rode their bicycles to Master Wang's Woodcarving Studio in Sigang District. They were escorted by Shu-min and other volunteers from the local community.
When they arrived, they were greeted by Mr. Wang and other instructors. They discussed safety, and then proceeded to show how to carve wood on a spinning machine, using a special blade tool. After showing the example, the 27 students were divided into 8 teams, and they each had their own machine to use.

They were able to carve a rectangular shaped piece of wood into a smooth, round piece of wood. They were also shown how the skill can have a practical use, as they could make a baseball bat from the technique.

The students seemed to enjoy the experience. Hopefully, they can believe that many skills and choices are available for their future. We hope this helps to build their confidence as future leaders.
