西港國中菁英領袖社2017-2018版本已經重新啟動了。感謝淑敏老師的指導，社團發揮了新的意義和目的。本社團聚焦於帶領團員四處探索西港的各個區域讓學生可以有新的體驗，更熟悉他們的家鄉。大多數學生對他們的祖先從何而來知之甚少，淑敏老師知道找到根源的重要性。而且隨著社會的快速變化，台灣的許多文化和歷史遺跡正在消失，為道路和地區發展讓路。
The 2017-2018 version of the Leadership Club at Sigang Junior High has taken on a new life. Thanks to Shu-min's guidance, the club has taken on new meaning and purpose. The club focuses on taking members around to discover the different areas of Sigang District, where students can have new experiences and become more familiar with their home town. Most students don't know much about where they come from, and Shu-min knows the importance of finding your roots. Also, with society changing quickly, much of Taiwan's cultural and historical sites are disappearing to make way for roads and development.

在這一天，學生們騎著自行車20分鐘到達西港區的北部。後面跟著的是台灣電視台收視率最高的福爾摩沙電視台的製作人員。
On this day, the students rode their bicycles for 20 minutes to the far northern reaches of Sigang district. They were followed by a production crew for a TV show for Formosa TV, which is the highest rated television station in Taiwan.

從該地區一座罕見的山丘旁邊的一棵古老的榕樹開始，他們探索了金砂里。淑敏老師評論說，這棵樹看起來很有女人味。 然後，他們騎著自行車到一個台灣最有名的藝術家之一在村裡的故居。他們通過軍事基地，在金砂分校整備，他們只有大約20名學生。
They explored the village of Jing-sa-li, beginning with a very old banyan tree next to one of rare hills in the region. Shu-min commented that the tree looked very feminine. Then, the group rode their bikes to the home of one of the most famous artists in Taiwan, who has a home in the village. They passed a military base and settled at Jing-sa Elementary School, where they have only about 20 students.
金砂分校的主任和學生們等著我們，向我們展示如何玩一種叫做chalkball的歐洲運動。在教會我們的團員後，他們玩了一段時間然後，稍事休息，享受由主任提供的柚子。
The students, Dean and students waited for us, and showed us how to play the game of chalkball, which is a European sport. After teaching our club members, they played for awhile. Then, they took a break to enjoy sweet pomelos, provided by the Dean.

結束這趟旅程回到學校。那些小學生的體驗和團員們一樣都非常有趣。
After the excursion, the group rode back to school. The experience was just as fun for the elementary students as it was for our club members.
